GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- All day on Tuesday, Coloradans have a chance to raise millions of dollars for non-profits across the state, some of it going to organizations right here in Mesa County.

“Colorado Gives Day” is a one-day initiative where people from across the state increase philanthropy through online donations.

Locally, eight charities have joined forces to raise support and donations for their organizations.

“Today truly is all about all the organizations because we are working together to bring awareness to our own community about organizations that they may not be familiar with ,” said Shari Zen of the Western Slope Center for Children.

Last year nearly $13 million reached Colorado nonprofits.

Charities have set up shop at the three-free standing Starbucks locations in Grand Junction and will be collecting donations until 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

However, you can also donate all day online at Givingfirst.org.

What a wonderful way to give back to the community we live in. Each donation is also matched by an incentive fund from FirstBank so the value of every dollar is increased today. Help your favorite charity at givingfirst.org!
