by KREX News Room

Hayden - Authorities say two people are dead and four others injured after a private airplane carrying six people crashed in Colorado. The crash happened at Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden, about 25 miles west of the ski resort town of Steamboat Springs.

Officials say a Cessna plane crashed just short of the airport's runway, after traveling from Texas, during a heavy snowstorm.

According to the Routt County coroner, 44-year-old Gabbi Humpal, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and the pilot, 75-year-old Hans Vandervlugt, of Refugio, Texas, were killed.

Humpal's 10-year-old daughter suffered critical injuries and was flown to a Denver hospital. Meanwhile, the woman's husband and two sons suffered only broken bones and bruises.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
