Central Library Holding Voter Registration Event Tuesday

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- As election day quickly approaches, Mesa County Libraries wants to help you get your voice heard.

Folks across the country are participating in Tuesday’s National Voter Registration Day, and in Grand Junction, Central Library is hosting the nonpartisan event.

Officials from the Clerk and Recorder's Office say Mesa County is doing well when it comes to registering voters, and currently, nearly 69 percent of the county is registered.

“Colorado is a swing state, and so if you want to have your voice heard it’s important to go ahead and register to vote,” said Sheila Reiner, Mesa County clerk and recorder. “It’s not hard and really quite exciting.”

“Voting is a right and a reasonability of every American, and this is your shot to have a voice in what happens all the way from local government to Washington, D.C.,” said Bob Kretschman with Mesa County Libraries.

The voter registration event will take place on Tuesday at 655 N. First St. in Grand Junction from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You should bring either you Colorado driver’s license or social security card.

The last day to register to vote in this year's election is Oct. 9.

My grandfather was a in the wool Republican, never missed an opportunity to vote a straight Republican ticket. Since he passed away in 1942 he has continually voted Democrat. Ain't life funny.
