Campaign for Central Library’s New Look Opens to the Public

by KREX News Room
by John Dias

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Mesa County Public Library Foundation launched a fundraising effort for the new Central Library Project on Tuesday, and opened the campaign to the public for the first time.

The foundation has already raised over $420,000 dollars but is trying to reach a goal of $1.25 million. The public campaign will give everyone in the community an opportunity to directly support the project.

Officials from the foundation say a library is a great thing to donate to because it holds a community up.

“It provides a baseline for the community,” said Kevin Bray of the Mesa County Library Foundation. “That’s why it’s so important. There are so many things a library does for the entire community that it’s an important thing to get behind.”

There are two ways the public can contribute to Central Library’s effort. Either my mailing a check to Mesa County Library Foundation at P.O. Box 3668, Grand Junction, 81502, or donate by credit at mesacountylibraries.org.

This project will be very successful because of the deep seated commitment and experience of one of Mesa County Library Foundation's leaders, Lois Becker.
