CO Senate Approves Background Check Bill

by Kristina Kuestner
by Jim Daly

DENVER (AP)- A bill expanding background checks for private and online gun purchases in Colorado now has only one more hurdle to clear before hitting Governor Hickenlooper's desk.

The bill was approved Friday for the second time by the Colorado Senate, on a 19-14 vote.

The background-check requirement has already passed both chambers, but in slightly different forms.

That prompted another round of votes Friday to get the bill to Governor Hickenlooper, who supports the legislation.

Senate Republicans tried and failed on a last-minute effort, to delay or defeat the bill.

They say the background-check requirement can't be enforced without universal gun registration which they oppose.

These liberal goons running this state are truly sick! It's time for the sensible people in this state to vote them out, it's time to take back Colorado!

I can't give my 12 year old grandson a .22 rifle without running a background check to insure he isn't a criminal. But he can be taught about vibrators and gerbils and "alternate lifestyles". Call me a bigot if it makes you feel better, but this state has gone to s***.
