CO Lawmakers Unhappy With Sandy Relief Fund Legislation

by KREX News Room

DENVER - Lawmakers across the country are touting the Storm Sandy relief bill as a victory but some Colorado lawmakers are crying foul.

Before the bill was passed in the House, $125 million was stripped from the funding. That money was set to go towards last year's wildfires which greatly affected Colorado.

Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet is speaking out about the money's removal. He says that the Senate had originally passed the $51 billion in legislation with the wildfire funding included.

Republican leadership has pledged to work on getting wildfire funds to Colorado and other western states.

Last year's western wildfires destroyed hundreds of homes and scorched millions of acres.

Sen Bennet? Didn't he vote yes on the job-killing travesty known as Obummercare that was passed under cover of darkness and holiday by the democrat cowards on Christmas Eve, 2009?
