CO Lawmakers Consider Repealing Death Penalty

by KREX News Room

DENVER (AP)- Lawmakers are considering repealing Colorado's death penalty.

The proposal to abolish capital punishment was introduced in the House Friday.

If the bill becomes law, it would not apply to current cases, including the James Holmes case.

Prosecutors are considering whether to seek the death penalty in that case.

The last time Colorado executed someone was in 1997.

I agree with Bens comment. James Holmes was caught RED HANDED in his dirty deed. He should have been swinging from a Stop Light the next day for all to see that your choices and actions do have consequences.

Time to vote the liberal loons out! It's time to take back Colorado!

The one law the deters violent crime and the liberals want to abolish it. Instead they enact "feel good" laws about magazine size and background checs.

Ben said it pretty well. Should be mandatory.

"Mercy toward evil is cruelty to the innocent", an ancient proverb that is just as true today as it was in the past. There wouldn't be innocent people behind bars if prosecuters would stop trying to gain a reputation and spend more time to find the truth. When you don't execute someone who absolutely needs it, you encourage more murders. After all, what are they going to do, slap you on the wrist and take better care of you than they will the rest of the population? A lot of people are alive today while their victims are in a grave, where is the justice in that?

The Left-Wingnuts are on a roll. This is what happens when you elect Democrat ex-government employees to office. They dismantle your society and vote themselves more power and money.

Somebody needs to grow a BIG pair and just throw the switch!!!

Sure hope they do abolish it. How many innocent people have been cleared after 20 years? How many innocent folks has the states murdered?

Sad State of Affairs said on Saturday, Mar 16 at 6:28 AM

I agree 100%! Repealing the death penalty smells like a left wing scam to me. Some kind of abkuck back to trial lawyers.

Ben Stein said on Saturday, Mar 16 at 12:29 AM

Instead of repealing it, why don't they create a death penalty fast track court? Mass murderers, child rapists, and the like have nothing to offer and should be executed right away.
