WESTMINSTER, Colo.- A man claiming to be a Colorado Mesa University student has been arrested after allegedly telling his therapist he wanted to shoot children, kill people on Halloween, and kill President Barack Obama.

Mitchell Kenneth Kusick of Westminster is being held on suspicion of a federal charge of threats against a president.

In a federal criminal complaint, Kusick said that he trained in how to shoot an assault rifle at a firing range in Grand Junction, where he said he was a student at Mesa State.

Kusick said he took a shotgun from his aunt's house and tried to buy ammunition.

He told his therapist on Oct. 29 about his plan, and allegedly said he wanted to go down in history as the "guy who killed Obama."

A detention hearing is scheduled for Friday.
