MONTROSE, Colo.- After being renovated all summer, the Colorado Mesa University campus in Montrose showcased its finished product Friday.

The 1935 school building underwent many changes. It was upgraded to a state-of-the-art higher education learning center.

Improvements include a student computer lab, meeting room and areas for group and individual study.

There is also improved lighting and lower ceilings to make for a better learning environment.

Major additions include specialized laboratory spaces for general science classes as well as the health sciences programs in nursing and medical office assisting.

Joey Montoya Boes, the director of CMU Montrose, said, "We've had a very positive reaction. Students love the improvements. A lot of them comment that they can't tell the difference whether they are at the Montrose campus or at our main campus in Grand Junction. The faculty are pleased as well."

Renovations were completed just in time for classes to start up again.

The project was supported by the Montrose Campus Capital Campaign.

About $850,000 has been raised toward the $1 million goal.
