b>GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Students and community members gathered at Colorado Mesa University to take part in the largest day of action in the history of Valentines Day.
It's called "One Billion Rising,” and it's the global movement to end violence against women and girls.
The movement began as a call to action based on the statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime
Through a flash mob the university will join women and men across the world to demand change.
“It’s just an atrocity,” said Jeriel Livingston, woman’s rights activist. “It’s something that has become a social norm and rape is kind of a culture we have bread here. We are standing up and saying, we're not going to take that.”
To date, this "V-day" movement has raised over $90 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women.
