GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Hundreds of students from high schools across the Western Slope flooded into Colorado Mesa University on Tuesday, for a unique learning experience.

The 15th Annual Math Extravaganza gives high school students an opportunity to spend the entire day at CMU and to learn more about mathematics.

This year, the college students prepared interactive activities to help teach the teens.

“We want to show them that there are other avenues in math,” said Dr. Lisa Driskell, assistant professor at CMU. “And that math does translate to other subjects and just critical thinking and deeper thinking."

Following the presentations, prizes were awarded to students who scored the highest on a quiz that tested what they learned throughout the day.
