CDOT Requiring Commercial Trucks to Carry Chains

by KREX News Room
by Associated Press

DENVER- Despite the warm temperatures, the Colorado Department of Transportation is thinking ahead and is requiring large trucks to carry snow chains starting Saturday.

According to officials, commercial vehicles weighing more than 26,000 pounds traveling Interstate 70 over mountain passes must carry sufficient chains to keep them from getting stuck until May 31.

CDOT officials say Colorado snows can occur as early as September and commercial trucks should be ready for inclement weather.
