CDC Study: Colorado Teens Smoking Less Marijuana

ATLANTA- A recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that Colorado teens are smoking marijuana less than before.

The study shows that youth marijuana use in Colorado went down 2.8 percent from 2009 to 2011 to a total of 22 percent.

That puts Colorado lower than the national average, which went up 2.3 percent to a total of 23.1 percent.

Some supporters of Colorado marijuana regulation say their progress may have helped.

"By regulating marijuana we are in fact reducing availability to youth ... by regulating it and insuring that people have to show an ID, similar to if you go into a liquor store, you're going to be asked for identification to verify that you're of age," said David Cox, a Western Slope coordinator for the Amendment 64 campaign.

Colorado is one of 20 states nationwide where medical marijuana is currently legal.

I'm sorry you feel that way Floyd, the times are certainly changing with the electronic globalization of the world. However, it would be a hasty generalization to propose that all teenagers do is smoke and text message.

Driving by a school, even middle schools gives plenty evidence of the fact kids are either texting or smoking. No perversion, just simple observation, plus thats what my grandkids tell me goes on.

What are you doing hanging around the schools Floyd? Pervert! How would you know what the young kids are doing!

They must not be doing their studys around the schools, if they aren't standing in a group texting each other, they are smoking.
