CBI Wants $500K for Background Checks

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is planning to ask lawmakers for $500,000 to help it more quickly process the huge backlog of background checks for gun buyers that has swamped the agency after the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

The Denver Post reports that in November, it took an average of 23 minutes for a gun buyer in Colorado to get a criminal-background check. The wait time now has stretched to nearly seven days as the CBI struggles with the backlog of more than 11,000 applications.

CBI spokeswoman Susan Medina says the supplemental appropriation would be used for more staff and technology.

Meanwhile, state Rep. Claire Levy, a Boulder Democrat, has suggested that gun buyers pay a fee for the background checks.

It's been a while since I bought a gun, but I paid a fee then for the background check. Correct me if I'm wrong but there is still a fee for the check, if that is so then it looks like the Boulder democrat might not know what he or she is talking about. The gun control advocates put restrictions in place that make it easy for those who have diminished mental cpabilities to have access to killing zones, in the forms of schools or theaters, put in place by GC advocates for the purposes of bringing about more controls. The gun control advocates "want" these shootings to happen for their agenda to gain ground. Politicians with a totalitarian agenda will use any means to get what they want. Even the lives of children are nothing more to them than a stepping stone to more power. Working on peoples emotions has always worked for those with evil intentions.
