FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - More than 20 business leaders in Fort Collins say they were surprised to find their names on a petition opposed to a proposed ban on fracking within the city.

The petition was given to the Fort Collins City Council on Tuesday by a state oil and gas association opposed to the ban.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan some business representatives say someone else signed their names, while others say they did not know what they were signing.

A consulting firm that circulated the petition says it did not verify all signatures, and the purpose of the petition was not misrepresented.
