Budget Cuts Impact White House Tours

by KREX News Room

The sequestration budget cuts are hitting close to home by making even the White House cancel their tours.

White House Spokesman Josh Earnest says it is a “shame” that White House tours are canceled due to the across-the-board federal spending cuts that went into effect.

Earnest says the cancellation of tours is something the White House is not happy about but he's also not very happy about is the potential economic impact of the sequester.

"So if you're sitting here, telling me it seems ridiculous that this terrible policy is in place and it's having an impact on White House tours, I would agree with you, but that's the way that it was designed," Earnest said at a press conference.

Earnest adds that the U.S. Secret Service presented canceling the tours as part of a range of options to deal with the budget cuts.

He denied that it was a political decision designed to make a public statement to congress about the impacts of the sequester.

Republicans idea? What a joke! You left wing Obama zombies/drones can blame your dear leader for this. This is a temper tantrum because he's not getting more money to spend. I'm frankly embarrassed by the administrations's behavior. If he and princess Michelle would stop going on expensive vacations, and stop spending money we might not be in this situation.

So this was the Republicans' idea: cancel services and then allow their rich cohorts to fund popular Federal programs for publicity purposes. Nice.
