GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Western Colorado Botanical Gardens is getting in the Halloween spirit by transforming their castle into a haunted house.
This is the first year the Botanical Gardens has put together the castle, and officials say it isn't for the faint of heart.
Botanical Garden workers and volunteers spent seven weeks and nearly 500 hours putting the spooky adventure together.
Organizers say the assistance of volunteers from local high schools has made a big difference.
"Students from Central High School really stepped up and helped us out," said Trapper Medina, volunteer at the Haunted Castle.
The Haunted Castle is open on weeknights from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on weekends and Halloween from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
The Botanical Gardens is also hosting a free family-friendly Halloween Night Carnival from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Halloween.
There will a number of carnival games, a face painter, a balloon bender and plenty of candy and prizes.
