GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- It's being called a "win-win-win," as our local blood supply is being replenished, medical professionals are being honored and much needed assistance is being provided to the kids aid backpack program.

All day on Thursday, if you donate blood to St. Mary’s, the Mesa County Medical Society Alliance will donate $20 to Kids Aid, which is a special service that provides food to School District 51 students in need.

The council plans their unique blood drive every year with Doctor’s Day so they can also honor medical professionals.

Last year, they had a very successful turn out leaving folks with Kids Aid hopeful they will continue this success tomorrow.

“The more involvement we get from people from groups like the Medical Alliance here in the Grand Valley, the better the Kids Aid can operate and the more financially secure we become,” said Mike Berry, executive director of Kids Aid.

The blood drive starts Thursday and will go from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will take place at Saint Mary’s Regional Blood Center at 750 Wellington Avenue in Grand Junction.

Officials say to go though entrance 22.
