DENVER - A bipartisan bill aims to preserve millions of dollars in federal transportation funding for the state.

The Aspen Times reports House Bill 13-1132 would alter state law pertaining to vehicle weight to meet federal requirements.

State officials say if this change is not accomplished, Colorado stands to lose about $45 million in funding this year and 10 percent each year thereafter.

The bill is co-sponsored by Representative Diane Bush of Steamboat Springs and Senator Angela Giron of Pueblo.
