DENVER- A bill that makes oil and gas operations accountable for violations moves forward.

According to the Denver Post, the House Transportation and Energy Committee voted on an 8-5 vote for House Bill 1267.

The bill increases daily fines for violations from poor housekeeping on sites to leaks and spills to a maximum of $15,000 a day from $1,000.

The bill also removes a $10,000 cap on any one fine and sets a floor of $5,000 for adverse environmental impacts.

Bill sponsor, Rep. Mike Foote, D-Lafayette, noted that Colorado has one of the lowest fine schedules among oil and gas producing states.

Liberals can complain about oil and gas, when they stop driving cars.

Boy leave it to liberal whacko's they aren't going to be happy until they destroy everything.

Doesn't matter what laws are passed, the gas companies are still going to destroy the earth and people's lives, and sweep all their lies under that big carpet of theirs. It is getting pretty full though.

Regardless of how they were created fossil fuels are fuels formed by natural processes such as anaerobic decomposition of buried dead organisms. The age of the organisms and their resulting fossil fuels is typically millions of years, and sometimes exceeds 650 million years. Dead organisms, very, very old living things, beings, creatures, animals, plants, life forms that died. All living organisms eventually die, but they don't turn into fossils fuels anymore.

Everybody jumps on the hate wagon whenever the smallest of incidents occur in the drilling industry. They are angry all the way to the gas station to fill up their gas guzzler. Even warming themselves by the natural gas furnace fails to dillute their hate.

yes, we are blessed with natural resources, but God also gave us brains to use resources wisely, which we don't, and Daniel, you say most companies are responsible? check your facts, exxon valdez, check british petroleums track record, responsible management? come on, it's all about the money, these companies that make BILLIONS of $ get fined mere thousands and they still cut corners and use crappy old machinery risking their employees health and risking environmental catastrophe. Didn't God figure in the greed factor?

@Daniel Change my evil ways? Love the way you christians judge people you dont even know.

Daniel said on Friday, Mar 22 at 7:02 AM

TLC - your hate is hateful. As a liberal you should know better than to discriminate. Isn't that what you are doing with Christians when you promote homosexual marriage? God put oil and natural gas into the earth for our use. Most companies are responsible in their management of God's resources, and for you to speak so hatefully says something about where you are in life. The Kingdom of God is at hand, and I would suggest repenting of your evil ways before it is too late.
