GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- On Friday the hiring event at the Mesa County Workforce Center wrapped up. Officials tell NewsChannel 5 that hundreds of people attended throughout the week.

Starting on Monday, people came to apply for the T.J. Maxx that will be opening in the fall. They have about 125 openings and interviewed around 700 people.

The Tractor and Supply hiring event took place Thursday and Friday. They're hiring about 15 people and saw over 150 applicants.

Suzie Miller, business services manager for the Mesa County Workforce Center, said, "There's been a lot of really qualified people that have come out, turned out for these hiring events and it's also kind of an indication that more people are out there looking to take jobs that are maybe outside of their normal occupation."

Officials with the Workforce Center are looking forward to another hiring event next week. StarTek is looking to fill 60 positions by October.
