MESA COUNTY, Colo. - The Mesa County Search and Rescue Ground Team is now accepting new members.

Although SARC is volunteer-based, anyone interested must first complete the application and interview processes, as well as pass a background check.

Prospective members should be outdoor enthusiasts with a high level of physical ability while carrying a heavy pack.

New members must also go through training, which is a 10-week course starting in February 2013. That course will be held Thursday evenings and every other Saturday.

Applications can be picked up at the Mesa County Sheriff's Office at 215 Rice Street. Call 250-6373 for more information.
