Palisade - With just one medical marijuana center left in the Grand Valley, a group is now gearing up to run that one out of town. The dispensaries are no longer allowed in Grand Junction or Mesa County's jurisdiction, and currently, there's only a shop in the town of Palisade. Now, there are plans for a petition to start circulating to try to get that store to close.
Colorado Alternative Health Care is now the only dispensary that serves medical marijuana patients in the Grand Valley. According to Jesse Loughman of Colorado Alternative Health, state officials say the number of patients that the Grand Valley has is 2,500.
The number of patients a dispensary is able to serve is 300 and the Palisade shop is at its max. They say they're constantly busy because of the number of patients in the Grand Valley.
But now the same group that forced Grand Junction and Mesa County shops to close, called Safe and Healthy Mesa County, is focusing their efforts on the valley's only store left standing.
"We feel as though the dispensaries have made it much more available, and they really haven't fulfilled the purpose of Amendment 20," said Diane Cox of Safe and Healthy Mesa County.
"The petition hasn't been filed yet, but we fully anticipate that it is going to happen," said Loughman. He went on to say that they've been focusing on getting their patients the help that they need.
This is still in the preliminary stages and the actual petition is in the drafting process. Petitioners only need 5% of registered voters in the town of Palisade to sign the petition in order for it to go to the town's board. That means the number of signatures needed is 85.

My wife is in a lot of pain and man made pharmaceuticals no longer really help and can be additictive. But a couple of "cookies" a day actually help and her physician recommended he use that, i.e. MMJ, or even illegal marijuana (if Diane Cox gets her way) as it works better!
Marijuana Caregiver said on Wednesday, Apr 27 at 10:16 PM
Given the current patient/caregiver model, I am unable to continuously provide medication for the people I give care to. The dispensary in Palisade gives the people I provide med's. for a place to get their med's. when my supply runs out. I am not a marijuana user. The people I provide med’s. for have legitimate needs for their constitutionally guaranteed medicine. They DEPEND on me AND the Palisade dispensary to get relief from their often debilitating symptoms. Diane Cox, please give us a break! Let us continue to act maturely and rationally. Stop trying to control us like unruly children. We DO NOT need your help.
Disappointed Former Palisade Resident said on Wednesday, Apr 27 at 9:56 PM
It is worth mentioning one plausible motive for Mrs. Cox's "Pathological Altruism." As some of us already know, Diane’s son Brian is the former owner of a dispensary in Clifton. Her other is a medical marijuana care giver. Is it possible that her effort to exert control over us is actually a veiled attempt to rationalize her inability to control her own children, or her disappointment in them/herself?

My MMJ card was stollen or lost in the mail. Because we no longer have the MMJ shops, now the person who stole my licence will not get caught. The shops were the onely place that kept a record of MMJ card numbers. There's no regualtion any longer, now everything will go underground and the one's to suffer are the ones who can't grow themselves. Do you really think there a big difference between vicodin and pot? Do you really think people don't get addicted to pills and there's not a call for illegal dealing in pain meds? Ask anyone that works at an urgent care or ER (BTW My hubby works for an urgent care) and they will tell you that 90% of the people that come in for pain are drug seakers. All you high and mighty ones out there, live in your bubble and make believe that removing the MMJ shops will make everything better, all you did is now allowed the criminals more freedom to break the laws.

Diane Cox son is involved in the mmj business. Dianne owns vineyards - so [obviously] go get drunk instead to kill your pain.

I concur with MANY other GJ citizens...As sad as it is, I will NOT be spending money at Mesa County businesses whenever possible...Betty Beidelschies, Linda Gregory, Diane Cox, Craig Meis, Janet Rowland, Greg Palmer, Bruce Hill, Sam S, Bill Pitts are all to blame...Nice job killing the local economy worse than it already was...I hope all their neighbors grow enormous plants that hang over the fence since there are no more local dispensaries.

I will not spend any money in Grand Junction that I do not have to. I really enjoyed spending my money in Palisade. Diane Cox, Craig Meis, Janet Rowland, Greg Palmer, Bruce Hill, Sam S, Bill Pitts etal many people feel the same way about you and your greedy agenda.

The Secretary of State web site has a place to register petition entities. Your required to register to circulate a petition. There is no listing of Safe and Healthy Mesa County. So they are noncomplient to file a petition. How did they get the right to petition. But then the voters in Mesa County are ignored daily. Look at the new city police/fire building going up after 3 rejections by votes. City went on about their way to get what they wanted not what the voters expressed.

There is more evidence surficing that the cartels have been growing pot for the shops in Colo. from Utah and surrounding states. But you local boys wouldn't know anything about that, right? You local boys would just grab a stick and chase the cartels right back to Mexico, right? In war, sometimes the best defence is a good offence, it's good to get these shops out of here before the cartels get entrenched, local boys beating the cartels back with sticks while being fired on with AK-47s might seem heroic to the local boys, but I've seen what an AK-47 can do.

Did you know that when pot was legalized in europe there was a run on it, people went nuts for it and then after awhile, the thrill was gone and now the want for the stuff is at an all time low. Its not a big deal anymore. Think about that the next time you get on your righteous horse to try and stop people from getting what they want. The more you deny something from people the more they want it. Its not logical but its often true.

I am a little concerned with this diane cox woman and her group, they obviously dont know anything about the MMJ industry because all they are doing is making monet for the cartels .maybe they are the cartel.

I wonder how Diane Cox would feel if there was a target for the liquor stores. Have to drive elsewhere to get your booze. Diane Cox = ultimate communist.

"patients", lmao. I say let the shop stay, and let some of the peach farmers start growing pot. Of course, they'd have to put 24/7 armed security in the pot orchards, lol.

I believe the residents of Palisade are pregressive and intelligent enough to understand the benefits of the dispensary located in their community. Any claims that it has increased crime or increased availiability of marijuana for teens a totally false. I believe Diane Cox and her group are misguided at best.

I want to hear of ANY ill effects of these dispensaries. Seriously. Go ahead and think what you want...it's your right. But how has the average Joe Citizen been harmed having them open? You MUST keep in mind that ANY business is a benefit. Jobs, sales tax base and help for those that need it. Isn't that some of what makes America great? Have a little vision and foresight would you please. Banning them will cause an immediate negative reaction. Loss of sales tax to pay for the cops that have to now up their illegal patrols. Employees now on unemployment. Your trying to ban a PLANT that has a beneficial effect not only for the ones that need it, but for the whole community. You so smart!

I would like to know if Ms. Cox ever has a glass of wine or takes a prescription medication for her obvious stress and anger issues. Also do her children have any recreational habits that make her so aggressive and determined to underminelegitamate cardholders and their rightsto medicine as aloud by the state ofColorado. Sometimes someone's personal issues rather than the truth hamper their ability to make fair and justified decisions. I would like to know if her medeicine is all prescribed by her doctor if a large part comes from her alcohol infused meetings with others to discus their next move.

Obviously you did no research. You have no idea how much my legal medicine has helped me...without the side effects of the drugs the average doctor prescribes. Thanks for pushing me back to the Morphine, lady, thanks a lot.

I guess I should specify that now that Mesa county and GJ voted MMJ Centers out ALL of the LEGAL business has been shoved into the BLACK MARKET. It dont make the business illegal all it does is make the black market LEGAL. AND makes all legal caegivers black market.
