BLM Extends Public Comment Period on Proposed Drilling Site in Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The Bureau of Land Management has extended the public comment period on an oil and gas exploration near Mesa, Colorado.

Genesis Gas & Oil Colorado, LLC is proposing to drill five vertical wells on separate pads. The company leases 27,000 acres in the area.

An additional 3.5 miles of roads will have to be constructed to complete the project.

The BLM is preparing an environmental assessment of the proposal, and welcomes any specific issues, concerns, or comments in preparation for the assessment.

Residents can submit written comments and questions to the Grand Junction Field Office at 2815 H Road, or send them to gjfo_webmail@blm.gov.

BLM officials recommend sending comments by January 18.

Residents should be aware that their entire comment, including personal information, will be made available to the public.
