Avengers, Monster High Top Picks For Kids This Halloween

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- On Wednesday last-minute Halloween shoppers poured into Mad Margaret's costume store in Grand Junction.

Some shoppers picked up accessories, and others continued a common buying trend for kids this Halloween.

According to the store's owner Ken Dixon, the balance of power has shifted from Batman, Superman and Spider-Man this year on to the Avengers.

"The Avengers" film came out earlier this spring to movie theaters, featuring Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor.

Dixon said, "They have kind of taken over from Batman, Superman and Spider-Man."

Dixon says girls are also going with a nontraditional costume this year, spotlighting Mattel's Monster High dolls.

"The gals are interested in Monster High, and that's got several different characters," said Dixon.

Although sales are on the average side this year, the store reports an uptick in patronage ahead of Halloween night.

Dixon says they will be open on Halloween until the crowds begin to thin out.
