GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Every Tuesday the Avalon Theatre hosts “dinner and a movie,” and will continue the tradition on Christmas day, while also helping a good cause.

The Christmas day showing of the Wizard of Oz will be transformed into a one-day food drive.

Folks can bring in two non-perishable food items in exchange for one free movie ticket, valid only on Christmas.

All of the items raised will benefit the Western Slope Food bank of the Rockies.

“We are just trying to get people downtown and have a great time,” said Stuart Taylor, general manager of the Avalon Theater. “Hopefully they will come in buy popcorn, buy a Pepsi and have a great time with a great movie.”

If you'd like to take part in the fun on Tuesday, the showing will be from 4 -7:15 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre in downtown Grand Junction.

Admission without a food donation is available for $5 a person.
