Authorities Respond to Fire at Local Mortuary

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- One local mortuary got a lot of attention from firefighters Tuesday afternoon. Huge plumes of dark smoke started spewing into the garage from the crematorium.

Authorities responded around 2:30 p.m. to Callahan-Edfast Mortuary at 2515 Patterson Road.

Four trucks and more than 20 crew members were at the scene.

Thick smoke and flames could be seen.

Fortunately, authorities found that although the crematorium was emitting more smoke and flames than usual, the fire was contained inside the machine and did not expand to any other parts of the building.

Maybe someone replaced the embalming fluid with diesel fuel as a joke?
