GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Authorities with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office are looking for two suspects who were involved in an assault that happened around 2 p.m. Monday outside of Barnes Electric.

A female employee of Barnes Electric was pulling into the parking lot when a man attacked her. She said she'd never seen him before but did suspect that he had been following her in his car earlier.

The owner of Barnes Electric said the victim was on her way back from cashing a paycheck at a local Wal-Mart when she said she noticed a car following her.

Surveillance video shows a silver car pulling into the parking lot shortly after she did.

A suspect described as a black male wearing a hoodie and gold necklace came in through the her passenger side door and started to attack her.

Owner Don Barnes heard her scream and honk her car's horn, so he ran outside. "I got out there and had the guy in the car," he said. "I got a gun. I chased him around the vehicle and next thing I knew he had it pointed at me and I dove to the ground. He had me if he wanted to shoot me. He had me," said Barnes.

The victim was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to her head and upper body.

The assault suspect is described as an adult black male wearing baggy blue jeans, a black shirt, black backpack and gold chains around his neck. He is believed to be in his 20s with short black hair, short in height with a thin build.

The second suspect is described as an unidentified adult white male.

The vehicle is described as a gray or silver Pontiac Grand Am or Pontiac Grand Prix.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or suspects is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch line at 242-6707.

Officials say the suspects are considered armed and dangerous and should not be contacted.

and the article, as written, leads readers to believe Barnes has a gun. If I wanted to watch video, I'd turn on the TV.

If you listen to the recording carefully you'll notice that Mr. Barnes does not say that he had a gun, he says that the suspect told him, "I've got a gun."

If you have a gun, for god's sake, SHOOT IT! giving a gun to a bad guy just isn't helpful. He could have shot you AND the woman you were trying to help.

I'm no detective, but, I bet they are reviewing the Walmart video to see who was following her in there.

I can barely even make out a figure in the video... perhaps a better camera is in order. I hope you catch the perp.
