CROWLEY COUNTY, Colo.- More information has been released about the female correctional officer who was killed during an incident at a Colorado prison Monday.

Officials identified the kitchen worker as 55-year-old Sgt. Mary K. Ricard.

Ricard died as the result of an assault involving an inmate while breakfast was being prepared at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility in Crowley County, about 45 miles east of Pueblo.

Ricard had worked for the Department of Corrections since late 2003.

She transferred to the Arkansas Valley Facility in 2007.

Corrections officials say another worker, Sgt. Lori Gann, was seriously injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital in Pueblo.

Authorities remain tight lipped about exactly what happened, but one suspect has been identified.
