Aurora Tragedy: 1 Month Later

by KREX News Room
by Christina Marrazza

AURORA, Colo.- Monday marks one month since a gunman opened fire at an Aurora movie theater, leaving 12 people dead and dozens injured. While emotions are still raw, many people are making sure the victims aren't forgotten.

Organizers with the Aurora Victims Relief Fund report more than $4 million has been raised to help families and survivors of last month's massacre.

Over the weekend, a Bible used at ground zero in 2001 was brought to the memorial located next to the Century 16 theater where it all happened. The Bible travels to communities around the country that are dealing with tragedies.

Family members of shooting victim Ashley Moser, whose little girl was killed while she was left paralyzed, say they're grateful for the support.

There's no word on what will become of the makeshift memorial outside the theater, which has grown each day since the shooting.

There's also no confirmation on whether the Century 16 theater in Aurora will be torn down or reopened.

As one who grew up watching Cronkite's evening news, I have to wonder how we ever got along without ol' Walter reminding us of every anniversary of every bad thing that ever happened. Slow News is right: keep pickin' the scabs and make sure to milk the wound for all it's worth.

Ah, milking the story, eh Christina? There's an interesting piece about how 57% of Americans think that they are "WORSE OFF" now than in 2008? Or hundreds of other things. But you and KKCO want to pick at scabs, why? Compulsive stupidity, or some sort of "advocate journalism" political agenda.
