Aurora Movie Theater Massacre Site to Reopen Thursday

by KREX News Room

AURORA, Colo.- The newly-named Century Aurora theater is set to reopen in a special ceremony Thursday.

The theater was the site of brutal massacre this past July during the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, when alleged gunman James Holmes open fired killing 12 people and injuring dozens more.

Thousands of tickets were distributed to victims and first responders, however, some of the victim's families have called the reopening "disgusting" and "offensive."

Other family members have said the reopening is an important step and don't want the shooting to take away from the community.

Governor John Hickenlooper, Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan and the CEO for Cinemark are all expected to attend.
