GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The aroma of wines and hors d'oeuvres filled Brownson arena Friday evening, for the Grand Valley Wine Festival. The packed event was sponsored by Fisher's Discount Liquor Barn as well as NewsChannel 5.
Wineries from around the country traveled to Grand Junction for the event.
Brian Moore, the Rocky Mountain Regional Manager for Frederick Wildman and Sons, said, "I'm setting up the wines based on color, body, relative dryness."
The event welcomed wine lovers to enjoy the tastes of places like Italy, France and California.
Owner of Fisher's Liquor Barn, Brandi Pollock, said, "We have over 32 wineries here, and they have anywhere from five wines a piece to 20 wines a piece."
"It's really about the interaction about what they like, and maybe me giving them an opportunity to find some new things that they haven't tasted," said Moore.
The event also served a bigger purpose, raising money for the Colorado Mesa Maverick Club Student-Athlete Scholarship fund.
Pollock said, "We see how much they've done for the community and all the growth they've had and we want to be a part of that and help them in bettering our community."
A passion for great wine and helping out an important cause, led to one very successful night.
