MESA COUNTY, Colo.- Another independent candidate is giving Ken Henry and John Justman a run for the Mesa County Commissioner District 1 seat.

Local businesswoman Jana Gerow announced she has garnered enough votes to appear as an unaffiliated candidate on November's ballot.

Gerow said, she is running unaffiliated because she believes the office of county commissioner should be a non-partisan one in order to make unbiased decisions for the community.

Gerow also emphasizes integrity in government, which she said she practices by being fiscally responsible in her own campaign. "I'll spend the money when I can, and only if I make the money," she explained. "That's the other thing. You have to get out and raise money. If I don't raise the money, I'm not going to be spending it, so I'll go door to door or do whatever I have to do to get it there."

Gerow said she will only allow $100 donations at most to her cause.

The candidate also touched on her biggest strength for this campaign; she touts her breadth of business knowledge.

A resident of District 1 most of her life, Gerow said she has experience leading small and large companies alike. To find out more about Gerow's platform on the issues, visit VisionsForMesaCounty.com.
