Annual Veterans Aid Event on Friday

by KREX News Room
by Meaghan Wallace

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Winter season is sneaking up on us, and the annual event to help homeless and at-risk veterans prepare for the colder months is happening this week.

Grand Junction's Stand Down event is an opportunity for organizations to tend to the needs of not only veterans, but also the rest of the homeless community.

The main focus of the event is to provide those in need with flu shots, winter clothing, haircuts and medical and dental screenings.

There will also be veterans benefits and health care experts on hand to counsel those with questions.

It's happening Friday at the First Congregational Church located at 1425 North Fifth St. in Grand Junction.

Veterans are welcome from 9 a.m. to noon; after that they will be accepting anyone in need until 2 p.m.

Grand Valley Transit is providing free bus service to and from the event.

How did they stop it? Last time I checked this Obummercare bill was snuck through under cover of darkness and holiday by democrat cowards too afraid to debate it in daylight.

Actually, the original idea Obama had would have provided you better care than the veterans. Your favorite political hypocrites stopped that though.

Look at what us civilians have to look forward to once Obummercare is enacted.......

And just how many of those who are dealing with the vet benefits and health care experts are going to be lied to and not really helped? Probably more than a few would be my guess from the way those "experts" have lied to me repeatedly over the last year. I filed a claim over a year ago and at that time I was told it would be 60-90 days to get an answer. 6 months later I was told it would be another 60-90 days, then 3 months ago I was told it would be 7-10 days till I got an answer. 1 week ago I was told 6-9 MONTHS now till I find out. That is when they even bother to answer the phone. I am still waiting for a call back that I was told would be in 15-20 minutes, and that was 2 weeks ago.
