Animal Rights Advocates Upset Over New Livestock Bill

by KREX News Room
by Jordan Sherman

DENVER- A recent house bill would require licensed veterinarians to examine livestock that are suspected to be victims of abuse or neglect.

Executive Director for the local humane society says she worries the bill will make it harder for abused animals to be treated, especially in rural areas that might be hard for veterinarians to reach.

Currently, animal control officers can seize livestock they suspect to be victims of abuse.

After animal control officers seize an animal are they not examined by a vetrinarian as part of the ongoing investigation. This must be a Democrat sponsered bill.
