It is not up to people to have to "prove" anything. It is there, and it is not earth shattering, but very annoying that a hypocrite can expect his officers to adhere to a certain standard and not come forth with his misdeed back in the day. The city manager, council already know and been given the information once already. The point Concerned was making that it was interesting how the dept has high turnover, the Chief gets six figures (for making people leave), and thinks that something is a wrong when we keep losing good officers constantly. Call the city manager and ask how many have left during the reign of the chief. It is NOT always a money issue, but why they left is not public info an many put on their resignation letters different reasons in order to just to go forward. Moving on, the investigation is standard for policy and we shall see what happens from here.

(Continued) So with that said, since nobody here knows what happened because they were all cozy'd up in thier sleep number beds, lets let the investigation takes its course and see what comes from it? I know..Crazy concept right? To not be judgemental.....but just give it try just this once.

Anonymous-my "position" is not a difficult one to defend. Its pretty simple actually. Its funny to me how when a grocery store employee or a coal miner or maybe even a walmart employee may or may not have been involved in a possible criminal act would you ever see such trash talking an bashing. If those people commit crimes its just "whatever"..its just another incident of many that take place every second of every day in this world...but if it involves LE as the one being looked at???....whoa...pump the brakes! Everybody grab your torch and pitchforks and lets all meet at the comment section of the local TV news story. People need to get out of the city limits some time and venture out into this world an see that people are just that...PEOPLE! Whether they are cops..or walmart or grocery store employees..or coal miners. We're all human. Does anyone even remember what this post was even about by now? How many commenting are conducting the investigation? Thats what I thought.(continued)

If this person all ready has copies of these documents. A very simple solution is to send copies to some news agencies. I have a hard time believing someone who says they have the documents but are unable to provide them.

Bill Concerned is correct, and who cares if you got your hacker friends to get an IP address? (thinking you dont have any) It is public record and you can get a copy of the criminal history through CBI for a fee, it is there. It is not a salary issue and no they didnt go to the Eastern Slope as you claim. And who is this "they" have your name and address? You don't know what you are talking about. If you are so hell bent on taking it to the council, then by all means do. I am sure it is an embarassement they dont really want to share with the public. The turn over rate is horrendous, for good reason. Tyranny shouldnt be in a local law enforcement agency..but then again micro-manage on!

Concerned - Ignoring the criminal past of the police chief you claimed? You have never mentioned anything specific regarding any of you allegations. Why not? Why were your complaints never mentioned in the city council minutes? I called a couple of hacker who got your IP address off this site. I also searched the internet for Colorado police salaries and Delta is right at the bottom with $20/hr. That is why they leave and that has nothing to do with the chief. Does you parents know you are on their computer this late on a school night?

Bill, Better be what? Is the truth offending you for some reason? Lots of people know of his history and I would suppose that includes council. Keep making calls, but if you already knew who to call I guess that blows your cover. I will sleep very well knowing that the truth is coming forward. There may be some unwilling to speak about this, but I am a citizen that cares about my community and its good to see people being willing to come forward and stand up for what is right. I will sleep very well... thank you.

Concerned - You better be. You blew you cover when you said the Chief of Police has a criminal record. I have know at least 6 DPD officer who left because of low pay. Most went over to the front range area. While you were thinking up your next story, I searched city council minutes for the last 4 years and no mention of the problems you are writing about. I made a couple of calls and by now, they have your name and address. See you at the next city council meeting? Sleep well.

Bill, You need to do your own research before running your mouth. I can assure you that these issues have been brought up, not only to the city managers over the last few years, but also to the city council. ALL IGNORED the issues. The cops are not leaving for more money, they are leaving due to the current chief of police. The DPD officers are paid more than most departments around and the chief himself is making 6 figures, which is completely unexceptable. Know your stuff before you run your mouth. There are no lies stated. If you do your own research you will be sadly surprised.

Concerned - I am not DPD and live in Delta. I have never seen, heard or read any of this "public record" you talk about. It has never been covered in any city council meetings, never covered in the DCI, where are these public records? Not in Delta County. All the cops I have known that have left the area left for more money. Ask them.

How many more problems are going to occur with DPD before the city manager and council gets rid of the chief and commander? There needs to be a total shift in leadership. The loss of 33-38 officers in four years which is over a 200% turnover rate! No other city would allow this Paying $105,000 salary to the chief where we are not getting our moneys worth. The DPD administration will surely try and blame someone else and escape any accountability DPD administration also needs an external review and complete overhaul!
Concerned said on Thursday, Feb 28 at 8:00 PM
Bill- The comment was not slander, nor lies... It is the truth... sounds as if you may work for DPD? And because everything stated above is public record I will sleep very well tonight... These issues have been stated long before now and they are being ignored.
Bill said on Thursday, Feb 28 at 7:54 PM
Hey "Concerned said today at 1:24 PM", you better hope to God that you post cannot be traced. What you wrote is lies and slander and you will be sued and could be arrested. Real dumb to make up lies and the write about it. By the way, your web address can be traced through your posts so sleep good tonight.

Delta Police Department does need some special attention. A couple of years ago our daughter received a ticket for switching lanes and hitting another auto. The other auto came from a stop sign! There were numerous mistakes in the police report including a statement that there was 5 feet of paint transfer (which happened to be house paint). When we went to the Police chief and spoke to him regarding the issue his statement was "I will take her ticket back and have them re-investigate and if they can come up with a report that I can believe I will re-ticket her. Guess what the investigator did. But his last comment on his report was " I noted one discrepancy with what I was told. According to photo the fluid spill was at approximately 11 feet" he stated in his report the accident was at 21 feet. So could you explain to me how the water came out of the auto before it was hit. And another thing the other driver of the auto was a friend of one of the ticketing officers.

For those who didn't read the article or pay attention to what what said: It is the department policy to place officers on paid leave until CBI checks on what happened. This protects all involved--especially when someone is injured. At this point it has nothing to do with anyone's record etc....let's wait until it's investigated before throwing stones on what is wrong in that office. How about letting the City council know how you feel versus an anonymous forum?

Thanks 'Concerned'. To Intellgent American citizen, yours is a difficult position to defend. In their role as policy/code enforcers and revenue generators the law enforcement community has passed the threshold of innocents shaken down and bullied. Now the typical threat from your ilk is: 'Oh yeah?! Well hope you never need a cop!' I would point out that an encounter with a leo you have a 100% chance of being treated as a criminal, while an encounter with a member of the general public (dependend upon circumstances) yields a less than 1% chance of something bad happening.
Concerned said on Thursday, Feb 28 at 2:24 PM
This newest situation does not really surprise many within the community, as most know of the corruption of the current chief of police for the City of Delta. He has his own criminal history, so why would anyone be surprised at this situation? The chief in Delta has a 100% turn over rate and is known for getting rid of those who will not break the law for his department. Sad thing that the community is left with a very disgruntal situation and that the quota for writing tickets that was issued and is a part of the officers evaluations, so then the "write em up" aspect is a scare tactic not a actual evaluation of the law. This police department needs to be fully replaced with upstanding police officers who are willing to enforce the law not break it. Sounds like another law suit is on the way and the corrupt City of Delta deserves it

Lol! Wow! Gotta love uneducated people with nothing to do but bash cops.....especially from those who are truly clueless and have nothing better to do. Its the American way apparently. God bless America (and even the less fortunate and uneducated)
