All Points Transit Bus System Adds Bike Racks

MONTROSE, Colo.- Bikers now have a new way of getting around with some help from a public bus system in Montrose.

Community members in Montrose and Olathe will have increased access to public transportation.

All Points Transit has installed two bicycle racks on four of their buses and are looking to add racks to one more bus.

Riders with a bike can ride the bus for free until the end of August. "We have a lot of individuals that need access to the buses that live far enough out that can't walk to the buses, so by adding bike racks these individuals can actually get to the bus on a bicycle, put their bike on the bus and then have greater access," said Terri Wilcox, executive director of All Points Transit.

After August, bike riders will be charged the regular fare, but won't be charged any extra for their bike.

Officials say they have 27 buses total and will put bike racks on more buses if they see a need for it.

All Points Transit makes more than 80 different stops in the city.
