Alida's Fruit Goes Nationwide

Grand Junction - Local farmer Bob Helmer, owner of Alida's Fruit received nationwide recognition about his homemade jams and salsas. It all started when a food critic, Phil Lempert, tested their peach jalapeno jam and gave great reviews. Now, grocery stores around Colorado are wanting to get their hands on the jams, salsas, fudge, and other homemade goodies.

When NewsChannel 5 asked Helmer how he comes up with these interesting jam and salsa combinations he said it's completely random. "Somebody will mention something that comes in the store, and I will get a wild idea, and I'll start dumping stuff in the kennel and see what comes up," said Helmer.

Alida's Fruit is manufactured in Palisade, but they have a store in downtown Grand Junction. Helmer said they're excited to get their product in more groceries stores throughout the state.
