Live Interview with Local Air Force Officer Upon Arrival Home

by KREX News Room
by Meaghan Wallace

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- It was an emotional welcome home for one Air Force officer traveling home from her first tour in Afghanistan.

1st Lt. Jamie Johnson landed at Grand Junction Regional Airport just before noon Monday.

Johnson is home in Grand Junction after serving overseas for close to five months.

She was raised in Grand Junction and is a Central High School graduate.

Friends and family were anxious to have her home.

Her father Jim Daugherty says she had no idea there would be a crowd to welcome her.

The Patriot Guard was also on hand with American flags to welcome the officer home.

Johnson said one of the things she has missed the most are Colorado's breweries, and she's excited to ride motorcycles now that she's back for about two weeks.
