ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A man described by prosecutors as a major cocaine dealer in the Aspen area has been convicted of conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine.

The Aspen Daily reports (http://bit.ly/YD3cwV ) Montgomery Chitty stared down at the defense table with a hand on his face as a federal judge in Denver read the verdict Thursday.

U.S. Attorney John Walsh says Chitty will face at least 20 years in federal prison due to a prior felony drug conviction. Chitty is scheduled to be sentenced May 28.

Prosecutors said Chitty had taken over a cocaine ring after the arrest of Aspen resident Wayne Reid. They said Chitty traded more than 200 kilograms of cocaine from 2002 to 2010.

Chitty contended investigators had no physical evidence of him distributing drugs.
