DURANGO, Colo.- Authorities say four people were killed and three others injured in a head-on crash in southwestern Colorado.

Colorado State Patrol Capt. Martin Petrik says, a car headed west on La Plata County Road 318 crossed the center line at about 3:45 p.m. Friday and crashed into an SUV heading in the opposite direction.

The captain says four people in the car were killed and three people in the SUV, including two young boys, were injured. The driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries and the boys were taken to a hospital for observation.

The Durango Herald reports authorities have not released the names of the victims, but Petrik says all four who were killed appeared to have been in their late teens or early 20s.
