24 Road to Receive Bridge Replacements

MESA COUNTY, Colo.- The Mesa County Commissioners entered into a $1.5 million contract with Valley Contracting Inc. for the construction of three new bridges.

The bridge replacements will occur along 24 Road from I Road to I 1/2 Road.

"They're 45 to 55 years old and their sufficiency rating is starting to come down. They're functionally becoming obsolete," said Kevin King, an engineer for Mesa County.

Construction will begin when water is drained from the canals underneath the bridges, and last into around the second week of April.

During this time, 24 Road will be closed from I Road to I 1/2 Road.

Local detours will be in place.
