MACK, Colo.- Both able-bodied and disabled athletes are participating in a special three day competition this weekend just west of Grand Junction.
The 2013 Adventure TEAM Challenge features several teams of five, two of which are disabled, that will compete in a number of rigorous courses.
Participants will take part in mountain biking, steep hikes, rafting in the Colorado River, rock climbing, and many other activities.
Organizers put the event together to push athletes mentally and physically, along with teaching the importance of teamwork.
"I love the comradery it creates just getting out there doing something really tough and accomplishing something," said Topher Downham, quadriplegic participant from Boulder.
The event initially began near Eagle, CO before moving to the McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area by the Utah-Colorado state line last year.
