Power Restored in Fruita After Major Outage

FRUITA, Colo. - More than 2,000 people who were without power Monday morning have had their power restored. An outage occurred just after 7:00 a.m.

Officials with the Lower Valley Fire District responded and closed off Tabor Avenue.

Xcel Energy officials say the outage was due to a broken guy wire. Authorities say Family Health West, Fruita Middle School and Fruita Monument High School were some of the many buildings that were without power.

School District 51 officials say both schools with continue to operate as normal.

Xcel Energy said power was fully restored at 8:33 a.m.
