Mesa County, CO
It's an exciting day for disc golf fans as Palisade and Fruita are hosting the Colorado State Disc Golf Championships this weekend.

More than 170 participants registered to take part in this weekend's championship.

Both amature disc golf players and proffesionals will have a chance to compete for a number of prizes.

Local players say they are excited taht the championship is happening in the Grand Valley and tournament officials say they think businesses may have something to look forward to as well.

"When the course was closed from early June all the way through the first part of December, they definitely noticed not as much business here in Palisade," says Tournament Director Rock Cesario.

The championship continues tomorrow with the award ceremony taking place in Riverbend Park.
