2 Adults Behind Bars After I-70 Meth Bust
KREX News Room
MESA COUNTY, Colo. Two adults from Tennessee are behind bars at the Mesa County Detention Facility, after law enforcement arrested them for allegedly carrying nearly half a pound of suspected meth.
Authorities say Jessie Moody and Thomas Phoenix were traveling on the Interstate 70 on Tuesday, when they were pulled over between milepost six and seven.
After smelling the odor of marijuana in the car, the officer asked for permission to search it. After Phoenix refused, the officer ran his K-9 unite around the vehicle, based on reasonable suspicion.
A search of the car was completed and a black velvet bag was found underneath the driver's seat. It contained six separate one ounce baggies of the suspected meth, a street value of about $13,000 dollars.
Officials say the amount is for more than personal use and consistent with distribution. Both suspects are being held with no bond.
