DENVER, Colo.- The state is retesting 1,700 DUI blood samples after a lab employee failed to follow proper procedures, therefore skewing the results.

At least 850 cases have been retested with ten found to have inaccurate results. Officials say as of now, no cases are effected in Mesa County.

"I've spoken to our District Attorney Pete Hautzinger and confirmed with him that we have not been notified of any cases," said Matt Lewis of the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, "however, if there are any cases as they continue to back check all of those results, we would expect to be notified Monday and Tuesday of next week."

Officials also say in the ten inaccurate cases, the misinformation worked in favor of the defendant, not the prosecutor.

This specific lab processes DUI blood work for 225 law enforcement agencies in Colorado including Denver Police, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the local Colorado State Patrol Troop 4A.
