MESA COUNTY, Colo. On Monday a $148 million budget will be unveiled to Mesa County Commissioners, $148,554,327 to be exact.
According to the County Administrator, Tom Fisher, overall revenue is projected to be down 5.2 percent compared to 2013; largely a combination of lower sales tax collections and property tax collections.
He also says the organization has done a tremendous job of expending public funds conservatively in 2013 in order to maximize the funds available in the proposed budget for 2014
According to Fisher, offices and departments are not cut at a standard rate across the County. Although almost all offices and departments are proposed at some level of cut, the cuts are prioritized based on the strategic plan.
Officials say they've reserved flexibility within the budget to meet the strategic objectives of valuing employees and honoring the public service of the organization members
The final budget adoption will occur on Dec. 9, 2013. Officials say there are still a lot of decisions to be made and work to be done to get to that date.
