$1.3 Million Heading to Delta VOA Elderly Housing

DENVER- Delta Volunteers of America Elderly Housing, Inc. won $1,376,886 from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Officials say the money will be used to convert 22 apartments in Delta to give elderly residents the assistance they need and allow them to lead independent lives.

The Assisted Living Conversion Program gives resources to assisted living facilities to help accommodate frail elderly and people with disabilities.

For $62585.72 an apartment wouldn't it be possible to just start from scratch and build them correctly? Seems mighty expensive to "covert" 22 apartments. What are we converting them to? A boondoggle perhaps?
