GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- One year later, countless of people across the country are remembering the victims of a tragic incident that happened right in our own backyard: the Aurora theater shooting.
On Saturday, these victims and gun violence were remembered at Cherry Creek State Park.
With most people remembering their exact whereabouts when hearing the news of the incident, it's a memory many say will never forget.
“I just remember turning on the news that morning and seeing all the vigils and going on,” said Dave Sjerven, Denver resident. “Just such a tragedy and hearing the story about the community where he booby trapped his apartments, I don’t know, it’s really scary that for sure.”
“I think it has really flown by,” said Melissa March, Gunnison resident. “It’s just a horrible tragedy. I feel for all of those people, the ones that died, the ones that were injured, and everyone that was involved. It was just a horrible thing.”
This theater shooting left 12 dead and 70 injured.
